Deborah worked with the children, designing images for the curtains. Six designs were chosen to be transferred onto the curtains using applique techniques with recycled fabric.
The parents stitched them using back stitch, stem and chain stitch. The fabric was cut to shape, honouring the children's designs
The project has successfully reduced the echo in the hall, increased warmth in the winter, reduced the bright sunlight/heat in the summer and involved the children in ownership of the school. It also involved the parents in the realisation of the design and increased the sense of community and the celebration of the spirit of Carlinghow.
Thank you to all the children for their wonderful drawings, especially: Jazz, Ryan, Lauren, Jay, Alison and Laura.
